Mission

To promote and advance the specialty of Emergency Nursing throughout the State of Vermont.

Membership
GOAL: Maintain membership above 125
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVE: Increase the number of members and their participation in council activities.

OPERATIONAL OBJECTIVES:

Recruit at least one member for each of the standing committees
Offer educational program and lunch in conjunction with council meetings
Host a dinner or luncheon meeting for Nurse Managers
Send renewal/reminder letters to lapsed members
Offer rebates at educational offerings to encourage non-members to join
Offer rebate for renewal of existing memberships
Invite all ED nurses to all programs to increase awareness and interest in VT ENA
Have membership information available in all Emergency Departments
Support nurse manager network with quarterly meetings prior to council meeting

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
GOAL: On-going education of Emergency Nurses.
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVE: Make courses accessible to all members.

OPERATIONAL OBJECTIVES:

Offer courses in different locations throughout the state
Hold two ENPC and two TNCC courses annually
Provide access to CATN courses in collaboration with neighboring states
Offer an education program at quarterly council meetings
Provide an annual Education Day
Fund Delegates 750.00 to attend the annual General Assembly
Fund the President and President – Elect to attend the annual General Assembly
Fund the President and President- Elect to the annual Leadership Conference
Investigate the availability of grant money to further education
Promote and support CEN certification

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS
GOAL: Maintain awareness of State and Federal health related issues.
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVE: Provide pertinent information to all members.

OPERATIONAL OBJECTIVES:

Include government affairs column in the Vermont ENA newsletter
Sponsor Chairperson of Government Affairs to attend National Government Affairs Conference
Maintain open communication with legislators concerning health care issues
Utilize the ENA Web site to track legislation
Provide contact information for Vermont legislators on the web page

PRACTICE / RESEARCH
GOAL: Increase awareness of the research process in Emergency Nursing.
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVE: Develop practice /research committee.
OPERATIONAL OBJECTIVES:

Identify topics pertinent to emergency nursing and pertinent to emergency nurses
Recruit a member for each emergency department
Include practice /research topics in the newsletter

ENCARE
GOAL: Disseminate Injury Prevention Programs statewide.
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVE: Involve all Vermont hospitals in Injury Prevention Programs
OPERATIONAL OBJECTIVES:

Appoint a chairperson for each injury prevention initiative
Maintain Link to Vermont ENCARE on Vermont ENA web page

NEWSLETTER
GOAL: Increase awareness of ENA activities and issues.
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVE: Produce an issue at least twice a year.
OPERATIONAL OBJECTIVES:

Post deadlines for submitting items and e-mail reminders to hospitals
Committee chair submits updates on activities

SANE
GOAL: Advocacy for victims of sexual assault.
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVE: Availability of a SANE nurse in each hospital.
OPERATIONAL OBJECTIVES:

Establish a contact person in each hospital
Provide education for hospitals through the SANE program
Promote and facilitate National Certification for SANE Nurses

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
GOAL: Fiscal security for the organization.
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVE: Develop annual budget
OPERATIONAL OBJECTIVES:

Quarterly budget review
